What this spec actually requires

One-inch (一寸) photos are 25×35 mm, 295×413 px at 300 dpi. White is used for visas and most online forms, blue for employment and school records, red for some local registrations. Keep the head at roughly 2/3 of the height.

How the crop is guided — and what is not automated

The frame is locked to the 25:35 ratio and two horizontal guides mark the 60%–72% head band. You position the face; the tool does not guess where it is. That is deliberate: automatic face detection fails on babies, head coverings, glasses and profile photos, and a wrong auto-crop is worse than a manual one because you cannot see the mistake until the photo is rejected.

Backgrounds: solid, not magic

A new background colour is applied by compositing, not by hair-level matting. That works when the source is a transparent PNG (a cut-out) or when the new colour is close to the old one. It will not turn a busy café wall into clean white — for that, photograph against a plain wall in the first place, which is also what the acceptance rules assume.

Printing: 4×6 with no scaling

The print sheet is 1800×1200 px at 300 dpi — a 4×6 inch page with 8 copies and thin cut lines. In the print dialog choose 4×6 paper, 300 dpi, and turn OFF “fit to page”: scaling is the single most common reason a correctly sized photo prints at the wrong size.

Common reasons this photo gets rejected

  • Output under 295×413 px, which most 报名 systems reject
  • Background colour mismatched to the form’s requirement
  • Heavy beauty filter: face shape changed

Compliance wording

This tool produces a file that matches the published technical specification (dimensions, head ratio, resolution, background). It cannot promise that a specific officer accepts a specific photo, and neither can any tool — so we do not say “guaranteed to pass”.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need 295×413 pixels exactly?
Yes for digital uploads — that is the size derived from 25×35 mm at 300 dpi. For print, what matters is the physical size, but keeping 300 dpi guarantees both.
Why is my printed photo the wrong size?
Print scaling. Choose the exact paper size and disable “fit to page” or “scale to fit”. Also check that the file still carries 300 dpi — some editors rewrite the density on save.
Can I use a phone selfie?
Usually yes, if the light is even, the background is plain, and the camera is at eye level — arm-length distance distorts the nose. Avoid beauty filters: they change face geometry, which is exactly what the biometric check measures.
Is the photo uploaded?
No. The crop, resize, background composite and 300 dpi stamp all happen in the tab. A passport photo is an identity document — keeping it off a server is the whole point.
